2024 Toyota Yaris Cruiser: Electric off-roader could join Yaris line-up

Investigators have found evidence that Toyota may eventually call its compact electric four-wheel-drive the Yaris Cruiser, almost a year after the company unveiled photographs of it.

The company's compact electric off-road car may go by the name of the Toyota Yaris Cruiser in 2024.

The Compact Cruiser EV concept was unveiled by Toyota during its electric vehicle display in December 2021, but recently discovered data reveals the four-wheel-drive might join the Yaris hatchback, GR Yaris hot hatch, and Yaris Cross SUV in the brand's small-car lineup.

The lettering "Yaris Cruiser" was visible on the tyres of the concept car in a select few photographs released by Toyota, while it had been covered up in the majority of the images. This information was uncovered by the Japanese journal Car Moby.

Even though it had been known for about a year, nobody had noticed until just recently.

It's possible that the company hasn't decided on a production name for the Compact Cruiser EV because during a video presentation at the event, LiteCruiser was also seen in graphics on the concept's dashboard.

Toyota appears to be responding directly to the Suzuki Jimny's extreme popularity, with wait periods for the Jimny at one point reaching more than a year.

The Toyota concept combines the sturdiness of a compact off-roader with the classic styling of the FJ Cruiser, with the automaker teasing electric propulsion for the car when it ever materialises.

It is not yet known if the vehicle will be known as the Toyota Yaris Cruiser or the Toyota LiteCruiser or if it will remain a concept car.
